Ivan Lopouchanski

2008 FHSAA State Champion

2008 NHSCA All-American

Division I wrestler for the University of North Carolina-Greensboro

“My name is Ivan Lopouchanski. I was a Florida State champ in 2008 in class 3A at 152 pound weight class. I currently wrestle at University of North Carolina at Greensboro at 149 pound weight class. I first started wrestling my freshman year in high school at South Broward High School. I first met J.P. Reese through wrestling camps that were held in South Florida by the Mizzou Wrestling team. Eventually J.P. Reese became an assistant coach at South Broward High School during my senior year of high school. He coached my teammate A.J. Held and I to both win an individual state title and both earn All-American honors at senior nationals. J.P. Reese helped me get accepted to Division I college for wrestling and prepared me for college life and wrestling.  I want to express my personal gratitude for all that J.P. Reese has done for me and for my fellow teammates. J.P. Reese is a real asset to our wrestling community. I always set him as an example for my two younger brothers, who will also start competing in wrestling very soon”

Paul Marcello

2009 FHSAA State Champion

“J.P.’s coaching is superior to any I have had before because he understands the sport better than anyone I know.  He teaches moves that work on high level opponents. He likes to call them State Finals moves.  Our practices require discipline and hard work everyday and if you lack in either of those, you learned it real quick.  I think the biggest benefit I got from J.P.’s coaching however was not the knowledge or the conditioning but rather the confidence that came with knowing with certainty that there was no situation on the mat that I hadn’t already seen and asked J.P. how to cope with it. Every time I stepped on the mat, I knew that the only person that could beat me was myself.”
